Abstract

Directive (EU) 2019/1158 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019 on the work-life balance of parents and carers introduces the right of parents and carers to work remotely. However, the current version of the Labor Code regulates remote work only very briefly and incompletely.

In recent years, several proposals for legislation on remote work have been submitted, but none of them have gone through the entire legislative process. The article deals with the questions of how subjects of labor relations proceed in practice in the absence of legal regulation of remote work and whether comprehensive legal regulation of remote work is necessary and possible at all.
