Quantum coherent control of free electron wavefunction using ponderomotive potential of optical fields

Abstract

Quantum coherent control of the free electron wavefunction can be achieved using ponderomotive potential of optical travelling wave formed by two laser pulses of different frequencies. In this contribution, we will describe this novel all-optical technique whose development can enable, for example, electron vortex beam generation.

The technology of quantum coherent optical phase modulation of free electrons can bring novel possibilities for imaging and spectroscopy.
