Nuclear terrorism from the point of view of international law

Abstract

This paper first characterizes nuclear terrorism, then presents the international legal framework that is applied in this area, and finally focuses on the activities of the IAEA and the 1540 Committee. The aim of the paper is to offer an overview and evaluation of the legislation in the area, which is mostly on the fringes of debates on nuclear (dis)armament, but it is of considerable importance for these debates.
