Abstract
The aim of the article is to outline the adverse effects of the covid-19 pandemic on workers' rights in the global clothing industry and to present possible recommendations for clothing companies and the states in which these companies are located, which can help mitigate these impacts on workers' rights in the future. The declaration of a global pandemic of covid-19 by the World Health Organization brought about a sudden reduction of industrial production and closure of retail shops due to protection against the spread of the disease.
This article examines the clothing industry's response to take measures to prevent financial losses and their impact within the supply chain. Special attention is paid to the analysis of violations of the specific rights of clothing production workers.
The article is based on surveys and reports conducted during 2020 in individual clothing factories in the region. In its last part, the article then offers recommendations for the states in which clothing companies are located to adopt legislative and political steps to support the observance of the rights of workers by these companies also outside the territory of the state.
Subsequently, it also provides recommendations for clothing companies, calling for the implementation of voluntary measures to lead to respect for the human and labor rights of workers and to contribute to sustainability within supply chains.
