Inspiration from the German-Speaking Area for a New Understanding of Museum

Abstract

The lecture took place as part of the seminar "New Definition of the Museum: Its Pros and Cons", which was based on the discussion on the topic of new definition of museum as a part of international debates initiated by the International Council of Museums. The contribution summarized the historical development of German museums with an emphasis on current trends and inspirations, e.g. public history, decolonisation and environmental challenges.
