Abstract
The review deals with the main points of the book Diference jako princip vědomí [Difference as the Principle of Consciousness]. It highlights the author's historical reconstruction of the concept of difference from Wolff to Hegel.
The reviewer critically engages with the author's conception of Hegel's philosophy, in particular of "absolute knowledge" in the Phenomenology of Spirit. The author of the monograph places undue emphasis on the moment of interiority and the ability of consciousness to recognize itself in the world.
In doing so, however, he attributes to Hegel rather Fichte's position, thus the position of subjective idealism.
