ISBN 978-80-7530-244-1. The text of the review discusses the book by Egyptologist Jan Assmann, which he dedicated to the opera The Magic Flute.

In the publication, Assmann proceeds step by step through the structure of the work in great detail. His deep knowledge of Egyptological issues and its attributes in later European society and orientation in the cultural environment of Europe in the 18th century (especially in Vienna at the time of the creation of opera) make the publication a very remarkable work.

By compiling previous theoretical works and contemporary testimonies (sources), Assmann comes to the conclusion that the opera was created in close connection with the activities of Masonic lodges. The contribution of Jan Assmann's work lies not only in the revealing detailed analysis of the structure of the opera.

At the same time, it offers a new perspective on the overall concept of this opera and the possible dramaturgical intention of the librettist and composer (new mystery). The review was created for the Goethe Institute and was also published on the Institute's website.
