Physical activity has a positive effect on health and subjective perception of quality of life, and the aqua-training exercise program is a new relatively underutilized activity. The aim of the study was to assess the effect of aerobic exercise program in water on the change in health-related quality of life in postmenopausal women.
The research group consisted of 33 women over the age of 60 (67 +- 5.2 years). The group of women as divided into exercise and control group.
The exercise group (n = 17) completed a six-month aerobic exercise program in shallow water at a frequency of 60 minutes once a week. The control group was not included in the exercise program.
The level of health-related quality of life before and after the experimental period was assessed by the SF-36 questionnaire. The work showed that the aerobic exercise program in water significantly increases the level of general perception of one's own health (p = 0.04; r = 0.36).
