Moravia in the Hallstatt Period ‒ chronology and social system

Abstract

The lecture is primarily concerned of the chronological and social system in the Northern part of the East Hallstatt culture. It was divided into two parts: 1. inrtoduction of Moravia; 2. correlation of Czech-Polish regions.

For decades, the regions of Bohemia and Moravia, and then Poland, were studied as separate systems, riched of models that show significant differences despite being neighboring regions. Using Moravia as an example, general chronological data were presented, and the burial sites Vojkovice, Modřice, Seloutky and Moravičany were introduced.

Furthermore, the burial sanctuary of elites the Býčí skála Cave. Separately, topics of Eastern type objects, amber, glass, hoards, long-distance routes, C14 dating and dendrochronology were presented.

The second part was organised as a workshop with discussion.
