Supportive treatment and care are is an integral part of oncology. It prevents and solves complications caused by cancer and oncological treatment.
It brings a significant effect on improving the quality of life and the results of oncological treatment. Since 2017, the Supportive Care Group of the Czech Oncology Society has been dealing with the topics of our patients' complications in a multidisciplinary and multiprofessional collaboration, looking for suitable recommendations for their prevention and treatment.
It is one of the components involved in improving the quality of health care in the Czech Republic. The following chapters deals with extravasation of cytotoxic drugs, care of the oral cavity, care of the skin during radiotherapy, anemia, neutropenia, hypomagnesemia, safe immunotherapy with check-point inhibitors, and the use of denosumab and probiotics.
