Hodgkin lymphoma - history and current approach

Publication at Second Faculty of Medicine |
2022

Abstract

Hodgkin lymphoma is systemic lymphoproliferative disorder diagnosed mainly in older children and adolescents, which accounts for about 10% of all lymphomas. Over the past century, Hodgkin lymphoma has transformed from a fatal disease to one of the most curable cancers with estimated 5 year survival rates exceeding 95%.

Current treatment strategies are aimed at identifying the optimal balance between maintaining overall survival and avoidance of the late effects of treatment with significant decrease in quality of life.
