Abstract

The paper focuses on the dispositional, personal and sociocultural aspects of students. The main goal of the work is to focus on dispositional, personal and sociocultural aspects in pupils of small schools.

The research survey monitors just chosen these aspects and determines their impact on education and teaching in the field of swimming literacy. Within the personality characteristics, the pupils were divided according to temperament and their socio-cultural background was determined on the basis of the questionnaire method.

The analysis of these features was used to determine the impact on teaching in the field of swimming literacy. The research was focused on children of younger school age in small schools who participated in compulsory swimming lessons, both in the Czech Republic and in Moravia.

Based on the obtained data, recommendations were set with regard to the suitability for the age at which compulsory swimming lessons should take place according to the RVP ZV. Based on the results of the evaluation of basic swimming skills, it can be said that the appropriate age to start compulsory swimming lessons is in the range between 6th and 8th year, no later than the 9th grade of the child, which corresponds to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of primary school, because the best results in improving basic swimming skills were achieved by these grades, or first-graders.

When comparing the influence of temperament and sociocultural disadvantage on the improvement of basic swimming skills, the influence of sociocultural disadvantage seems to be more significant. When comparing character types, the greatest improvement in basic swimming skills was achieved by pupils of the introvert character type.
