The paper analyses the situation in the Czech Republic related to distance education of pupils with hearing impairment introduced in the time of the Corona pandemic in 2020. The research team consisted of ten pedagogical professionals working in three schools for the hearing impaired.

The research aimed to determine, through a semi-structured interview, the level of technical equipment achieved by educators and students, how distance education was delivered during the pandemic, and to what extent the effectiveness of this form of education was influenced by the preferred communicative approach as well as the age of the students. The educators also assessed the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning.

The information gathered from the interviews was transcribed and then processed using open, axial and selective coding and evaluated within the framework of pre-defined categories. The conclusions drawn from this can serve as a starting point for ensuring equal teaching conditions, which would be comparable to the teaching conditions with intact pupils/students.
