The most recent excavation of a Bronze Age burial mound in Mogila, Bulgaria

Abstract

In Summer 2022 a burial mound was excavated in Yambol District. It brought to live 12 graves, mixing burials from Roman period (1), Middle Bronze Age (6), and Early Bronze Age (5).

The two main graves of the Yammnaya culture, were dug in bedrock, one belonged to female, 16-19 years old, the other was of a child, around 4 years old. Besides the graves, three complete terracotta vessels were found and one hair ring from the the central grave.
