Abstract

Comparative phenomenology of facial and bodily expressions. The workshop held at the Ikeda Memorial Museum of Art combines elements of Czech museum and gallery education: an emphasis on discursivity, reflectivity, and direct encounters with artifacts of contemporary art with the Japanese methodology of Slow Space Exploration and Philosophical Dialogue, based on a concentrated perception of artworks in the authentic space of a contemporary art gallery.

The workshop is designed for high school students. Students explore the gallery space together through their bodies.

Through their individual interpretation of the meaning of each artifact, they access interpersonal differences in perception. Through spiraling understanding and recurring returns, they seek a common path through the exhibition.
