Abstract

This study is based on paper, which I have given on the international conference, hold by the opportunity of 200th anniversary of the Rieger's birth, Prague, December 2018. Rieger was considered as a political leader of the Czech nation in the years 1860-1890.

He was also the son-in-law of leading Czech historian and politician František Palacký, called "Father of the Czech nation". Albín Bráf was Rieger's son-in-low, founder of Czech school of political economy and important politician in the Rieger 's Old Czech party after 1890. Palacký, Rieger, Bráf also created the core of Czech national elite in the 19th Century. Author stresses that their concept of the Czech national identity is not possible to separate from the set of transnational intellectual, cultural, political and geopolitical influences, which he finds in their style of thinking.
