Didactic Narrative Transformation:he Potential of Creative Writing in the Process of Learning about a Literary Work

Publication at Faculty of Education |
2022

Abstract

The aim of the lecture is to describe a teaching lesson focused on a creative approach to narrative and, based on the content analysis of the resulting products and students' self-reflection, to point out the didactic potential of a creative approach to didactic narrative transformation. In the first part, we formulate theoretical starting points in the field of didactics of literature, the narratological category of the narrator and narrative transformation.

In the second part, we describe a teaching lesson focused on the transformation of the narrator using creative writing and content analysis of the products of the transformed texts. It is evident from the results of the student answers that they were initially unaware of the narratological category of the narrator.

The analysis of student products pointed to the fact that students are able to apply narrative perspectives on multiple levels during narrative transformation, but there is a need to work with detailed reflection and so-called peer response, which helps them improve the original processing. At the same time, it turned out that it is quite difficult for students to use a creative approach and imagination during narrative transformation.
