Abstract
The article focuses on interpretation of two novels published by Marek Toman: Cukrárna u Šilhavého Jima (2018) and Neskutečná dobrodružství Florentina Flowerse (2019). Both novels are compared in terms of characters, narrative style and chosen genre.
Attention is also paid to the way of referring to other texts, including so-called postmodern transcriptions and the formative or humanizing potential of literature, which is thematized in both works.
