Abstract

The impact of the 20th Congress of the CPSU on the societies of the socialist countries, especially in Poland, Hungary and Czechoslovakia, as well as on the Communist Party of Greece - KKE itself, is the subject of this paper. The impact of the most important events of 1956 will be examined through the pages of Greek refugee newspapers circulating in Hungary, Poland and Czechoslovakia.

Secondarily, the correspondence maintained by the KKE leadership with the refugee organisations in the three aforementioned countries will be used as a source. The relevant archival material comes from the archives of the KKE, which are held by the Archives of Contemporary Social History - ASKI.
