Overview of methods used to determine the animal origin of blood traces

Abstract

While determining whether a suspected stain may be a trace of blood is now easily solved using catalytic colour tests, the question of determining the animal origin of blood is still not satisfactorily resolved, although a number of analytical methods attempt to answer it.

Currently, one of the most popular methods are mass spectrometric techniques, which show considerable potential.
