Abstract
The biographical article is devoted to the Latvian diplomat Eduard Krasts, who represented his country in Czechoslovakia in the position of consul (later consul general) during the 1920s. He contributed significantly to the development of Czechoslovak-Latvian economic and cultural relations.
He became one of the founders of the Czechoslovak-Latvian Society. Through his activities and journalistic activities, he made Latvia visible in Czech society.
He was a member of the Social Democratic Party and used his party contacts to develop bilateral relations and defend his position. In the 1930s, he became a victim of the rivalry between the Social Democracy and the agrarians who seized power in Latvia.
After the Soviet annexation of Latvia, he was interned and died in the GULAG.
