Abstract

The selected set of games pursues new approaches to games with the aim of developing the player's abilities that can be relied upon in the process of learning mathematics. The game variations offered build on familiar rules and offer new game situations from a didactic perspective.

The purpose of the variations is to transform the game situations into a form that requires interaction, loud communication with an emphasis on the description of thought processes, reasoning for the choice or exclusion of particular moves. Variations to some extent make the games in question more difficult and thus limit their appeal in first experiences, requiring repetition that may be accompanied not only by generalization but also by the aha effect.
