Abstract
The thesis aims to analyze the reasons for the depopulation of the historical center of Ostrava and find the suitable approach to how to look at the development of this place from a different perspective. The reasons which influenced the depopulation of the center of Ostrava mostly include construction of a new town hall, coal mining in the Ostrava region, location of higher education institutions, organization of public space and construction of the Forum Nová Karolina shopping mall and the Karolina residential district.
A brief description of the problematic will not help us much, not only in moving forward and gaining a deeper understanding of the problematic but also in finding the optimal starting points. The whole phenomenon has to be sufficiently defined and viewed from a different perspective.
For this reason, we try to research the issue through the lens of phenomenological philosophy. In conclusion we try to synthetize all the analyzed reasons of the phenomenon and find a way to deeper understanding.
