The influence of social networks on the perception of one's own body

Abstract

The article describes the influence of social media on the perception of one's own body: how social media works with beauty, what causes negative perceptions of one's own body and how to address this issue with children.

The results are based on the thesis "Manifestations of objectification theory on social media in women with eating disorders". This output was produced within the umbrella project of the Specific University Research "Adaptation of Actors and Institutions to the Development of Contemporary Society" (SVV-ADAKIN) 2020 - 2022 (260556), conducted at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University.
