Prachatiz en Bohem 1620: the contribution to study of ladscape painting of 17.th century

Abstract

At the end of september 1620 the imperial army headed by Charles Bonaventura Buquoy captured the town of Prachatice. The topic of the study is a painting of flemish painter Pietera Snayers (1592 - 1667) which depict very minutely the war events.

The siege of Prachatice is depicted from north in direction of attack of the imperial army. The war scene i situated in the centre of the panoramatic view of Šumava mountains.

Both the town and landscape is depicted very minutely and credibly.
