Abstract
The article presents basic summary legal information on international (external) sanctions accepted by the EU. The essence of these sanctions is the distinction between those that implement UN Security Council sanctions to an unchanged extent (implementation sanctions), versus those that either expand the scope of the original sanctions (supplementary sanctions) or are independent of them (autonomous sanctions).
