Abstract
Oral medicine is a new dental specialty that focuses on the care of patients with oral diseases mucous membranes, which are often accompanied by serious diseases, e.g. of the gastrointestinal tract or kidneys. Difficult diagnostic algorithm similar to the difficulty of the therapy of most mucosal diseases, they require the intervention not only of a specialist - a dentist, but also of other experts, including clinical pharmacologists.
The lack of doctors dedicated to oral medicine means that patients with diseases of the oral mucosa, they often seek help from general practitioners, dermatologists or otorhinolaryngologists. Our goal the message is to describe the most frequent manifestations of selected systemic diseases on the mucous membranes of the oral cavity.
