Abstract
The chapter deals with the relationship between Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies and criminal law, both in terms of legislation and application practice. It is a basic introduction to a topic whose content is still perceived by many to be somewhere in a grey area, yet it exists and should be respected. Czech criminal legislation does not reflect the phenomenon of cryptocurrencies in a special way, but the judicial practice is also able to cope with this modern phenomenon or trend. The chapter tries to explain the basic terminology, to point out the specifics of cryptocurrencies and to classify possible criminal activities in connection with the phenomenon of cryptocurrencies and to present the available case law.
