Salafism and ideological instrumentalisation of the theologic doctrine of tawhid in Saudi Arabia

Abstract

This study examines how the Saudi regime uses the theological doctrine of tawhid to legitimize its rule and advance its political interests aand agenda. It shows how this doctrine eventually turned against the regime, which, along with economic considerations, was one of the main factors that led it to fundamentally rethink the role of religion in Saudi society and politics in recent years
