Abstract

In our report we describe a short clinical case of a toddler with a picture of lingua villosa nigra. In infants and toddlers, this is a relatively rare, painless and benign condition, which does not require an extensive diagnostic and therapeutic approach.

Concerned parents must be reassured and educated about the origin of the dark pigment, which is produced by chromogenic microorganism. Treatment consists of a combination of regimen and dietary measures.
