Transition from high school to adult life for youth with and without disabilities poses both opportunities and challenges, including changes in where the person lives, what they do during the day, with whom they spend their time with, etc. Drs.
Tichá and Šiška will highlight two projects and perspectives on post-secondary transition, one at the University of Minnesota's Institute on Community Integration funded by the Administration on Community living and the other at the University of West Bohemia in the Czech Republic funded by the Czech Science Foundation. They will outline two transition frameworks for youth with disabilities representing both countries and share preliminary results reported by multiple stakeholders, including youth with disabilities, parents and educators on their experiences with the transition process.
Drs. Tichá and Šiška will present two different and interesting perspectives on this topic, demonstrating a productive and inspiring Czech - US research collaboration.
