Abstract

The study with an annotated edition of the documents is dedicated to the social democratic journalist, politician and official Josef Jonáš (1920-2002). This leading official of the Czech democratic community in Vienna in the second half of the 20th century is presented primarily in the context of his activities in the Czechoslovak social democratic exile after February 1948. The text focuses mainly on the period from Jonáš's escape from Czechoslovakia to the turn of the 1950s and 1960s. The four letters that the authors present in the annotated edition also come from that time. The file is interesting above all because it brings closer the activities of Josef Jonáš in exile, clarifies the background of his move from Copenhagen to Vienna, and indicates his relationships with other prominent people of exile life. The letters are a preserved part of the correspondence between Jonáš and Radomír Luža, who was his close friend and collaborator in exile.
