Research aimed at determining the success rate of high school students in solving combinatorial problems

Abstract

The pilot phase of construction research aimed at determining the success rate of high school students in solving combinatorial problems took place in the spring of 2022. The students were given a pre-test to fill out before the combinatorics lesson itself and a post-test directly after the end of the lesson, which lasted approximately 8 weeks.

Pupils' success depends on individual tasks and is variable. We would expect students to be more successful immediately after completing the course than they were before it.

However, this did not happen 100%. We are currently interested in what is behind this phenomenon.

After half a year, we plan to give the same test again and find out to what extent their success in solving tasks has changed.
