The Summer School of Romanticism was founded by Prof. David Duff (Queen Mary University of London) and Prof.

Martin Procházka (Charles University) as a continuation of long-term cooperation in the field of Romantic studies. It is affiliated to the London-Paris Romanticism Seminar and draws on the expertise of Romantic scholars from leading universities across Europe.

The aim of the Summer School is to bring together graduate students and staff from different countries and to offer intensive instruction on current developments in Romantic studies. Graduate students are also given an opportunity to present their own work-in-progress.

The first instalment brought together 13 students and 8 staff members from Charles University; Queen Mary University of London; Birkbeck, University of London; Goldsmiths, University of London; King's College London; UCL; University of Oxford; Sorbonne University; Ghent University.
