The article is an edited version of an interview with two contemporary Irish arts practitioners that took place as part of the EFACIS 2021 conference. Lian Bell is a multidisciplinary artist, a freelance arts manager and designer for performance.

She was the Campaigner Director of #WakingTheFeminist, a grassroots campaign for equality for women in Irish theatre that began in response to the Waking the Nation centenary programme. Maeve Stone is a director and writer for film and theatre, and is also an activist concerned with climate and feminism.

She is project leader for axis Ballymun's PopUp Green Arts Department and a Platform 31 artist focusing on climate and biodiversity in County Clare. Both artists were invited to speak about the ways dialogue and activism are of significance to their work, the political issues that are of importance to them, and the challenges for artists in Ireland at the current moment.
