he 101st anniversary of the world premiere of Karel Čapek?s play R.U.R is a good opportunity to review which words spread from Czech to other languages. Czech words spread predominantly to languages of neighbouring countries (but not only to these) in three periods: (1) early medieval era due to expansion of Christianity from Czech lands to Poland; (2) in 15th century due to Hussite wars and (3) in the 19th century, during National Revival.
Economically developed Czech lands influenced the development of Slavic countries in the south of Europe at that time.
