Abstract
The article is concerned with the concept of gender in the Joan Scott´s work. In the introduction, the author summarizes tje concept of gender as an analytical category in the article 'Gender: A useful Category of historical analysis'.
Then she deals with the ciritics of the dual terms gender/sex, by which Scott has joined the poststructuralist feminist stream (as for example Judith Butler). The conclusion is concerned witn the usage of the term gender in Czech scientific and publicistic discourse.
