Abstract

The book "Intercultural dialogue. Slovenian Traces in the Czech Environment" is a monograph consisting of thirteen studies focused on Slovenian literature and Slovenian-Czech relations.

The contributions in the first part ("Czech Slavic studies at Charles University in the mirror of history") deal with Slavic studies and Slavic studies at Charles University, so they examine certain areas of intercultural communication between two small Slavic nations in the context of the Central European area, with a particular focus on the Czech side of contacts. The literary studies in the second part of the monograph ("Slovenian modernity, the Czech and Central European context") are more of a comparative nature.

The studies present the intermingling of the cultural and literary context of Slovenes and Czechs in a diverse period against the background of Central European processes. They turn their attention more to the second, Slovenian side and focus on the image and pulsation of Slovenian literature in the Slovenian, Czech and generally Central European contexts at the turn of the 19th and 20th century and in the first half of the 20th century.

The monograph tries to depict the life of Slovenian and Czech literature. Literary and cultural studies focus on thematic and comparative analyzes of literary works.
