Abstract

Dilatation of the aortic root and/or ascending aorta is associated with an increased risk of acute dissection. Personalized external aortic root support (PEARS) is a new method that was introduced in last years for these patients without any significant valve disease who do not fulfil the criteria for aortic root or ascending aorta replacement.

It is a custom-made macroporous mesh that stabilises the aortic wall. We present the results of the first 100 consecutive patients in whom PEARS was implanted.
