Abstract

The study aimed to verify the effects of spa rehabilitation care on the physical health of patients after COVJD-19.

One hundred patients (50 males, 50 females) aged 24 to 78 years (mean age 59.6 years) with post-COV1D-19 syn-drome underwent three-week comprehensive spa rehabilitation therapy. Statistical analysis confirmed its positive effects on some selected parameters of physical health. The síx-rnínute walk test (6MWf) showed that patients walked a mean of 11.6 % longer distance than before theír spa stay. After the stay, dyspnea assessed with the Borg scale was 30 % less severe and the forced vítal capacíty increased by a mean of 4.5 %. Oxygen saturation following an exercise test improved more considerably in younger patients; otherwíse, the effects of spa therapy were not influenced by age. The time between COV1D-19 and the begmntng of spa therapy was also analyzed. The longer the time was, the smaller differences in 6MWf results before and after spa therapy were found; with regard to other parameters, the effects of spa therapy were not influenced by thís factor. Only 6MWf results were iníluenced by selected comorbidities and their combinations. with non-obese patients showíng larger positive differences after theír spa stay than thei.r obese counterparts. Other analyzed comorbidities did not influence spa therapy effects.

Comprehensive spa rehabilitation therapy, as provided by ENSANA facilities in Mariánské Lázně, is an effective option when treating post-COV1D-19 syndrome, ímprovíng patients' Jung function and physícal abilities. It makes use of natural healíng resources, physiotherapy procedures, outdoor the.rapy, climatotherapy and education.
