Abstract
This contribution deals with effective remorse in Czech criminal law, specifically the so-called general effective remorse according to § 33 of Act No. 40/2009 Coll., Criminal Code (hereinafter also criminal code). Effective remorse is one of the reasons for the extinction of criminal responsibility, which must be distinguished from circumstances excluding illegality.
