Abstract

This book presents the previously unpublished memoirs/autobiography of Karel Engliš (1880 Hrabyň - 1961 Hrabyň). Here the author describes his childhood, student days and professional career.

Thanks to his personal contacts he is able to provide a unique insight into the society and politics of his age, including descriptions of numerous important figures such as Tomáš Baťa, Karel Kramář, T. G.

Masaryk and Antonín Švehla. This book is a valuable source of information and documentation for historians, economists, philosophers and other scholars.

Over five chapters it offers Engliš's original view of his academic, political and scientific work.
