Abstract

The analytical study of the neoliberal administration of academic institutions deals with the current consequences of the so-called performativity regime with a focus on the humanities and social sciences. It describes the effects of the need to produce results and achieve excellent scientific performance.

The study mentions the positives (mitigating the impact of bibliometrics by including peer-review elements in the evaluation, speeding up the publication process, Open Access platforms, etc.). In particular, however, it draws attention to the persisting side effects: the proliferation of journals, the emergence of predatory journals, the enforcement of citations, time pressure on intellectual activity or the transformation of the dominant genre of scientific results in humanities and social sciences.
