Abstract

Religion, spirituality and their relationship and impact on mental health have been an increasingly discussed and researched topic in recent decades. The text deals with the issue of what exactly is religion and religiosity, what is spirituality, how these two terms are related and how they contribute to the mental health ofan individual.

It is concluded that it is not so important an exhaustive definition of the individual terms mentioned above, but an effort to meet, understand each other in understanding these terms, both with patients and clients and with probands in the study of this issue. It is not only necessary to take into account the very existence and influence of religion and spirituality on mental health, but it is also necessary to know the internal mechanisms of which religion and which spirituality, so that we can deal with the issue as effectively as possible.

It thus appears to be a very important connection between psychotherapy and pastoral care or a connection between psychological, psychotherapeutic, theological and religious knowledge.
