Abstract
The text informs about the important jubilee of the Czech linguist and writer Milan Hrdlička. We trace the development of his professional interests during his studies, mention the personalities who significantly motivated and influenced him, and the institutions in which he worked.
We devote space to the areas in which M. Hrdlička was involved.
We focus on the jubilarian's most important works - especially Grammar and Teaching of Czech as a Foreign Language (2009), which was awarded as the outstanding monograph of Charles University.
