Publication at Faculty of Education |
2022

Abstract

The author addresses the understanding of the essence of the term 'concept' as a complex interdisciplinary phenomenon in the humanities branch of knowledge as applied to didactics and proposes her wording of the notion of 'concept' when teaching foreign languages outside the foreign language environment. The author puts a special emphasis on creating a algorithm for working with concepts as complex cross-cultural phenomena and working with various types of dictionaries facilitating the formation of meta-subject competences.

As a case study, the article reviews the work with the concept of 'hospitality' and satellite words on the level of comparative studies. The announced concept approach has been tested in a Czech philology students audience (V1-2 level of command of Russian language) and is considered as a promising route to increase motivation for the foreign language under study (the second or third one).
