Abstract

Organization of a panel at the 12th Congress of Czech Historians.

The panel focuses on so-called externalist approaches to the history of knowledge (especially medical, but also generally "scientific" in the broader sense) and how to overcome them.

In particular, the aim of the panel is to present the possibilities and contributions of the social sciences and the socio-cultural context for the analysis of the transformations of scientific knowledge. Contributions should thus be particularly concerned with conceptualisations of social and cultural context (institutions, scientific communities and other 'places of knowledge').
