Abstract
The anthology includes a total of twenty-two short stories by Azerbaijani authors who wrote from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of modern Azerbaijani literature after World War II. This collection of modern short stories from Azerbaijan is being published in Czech for the first time and reflects the development of modern fiction in the country between the Caucasus and the Caspian Sea.
It emphasizes the multicultural character of the entire region. In addition to short stories, the book contains a study on the history of Azerbaijani literature (Z.
Kříhová) and profiles of authors.The stories were translated from Azerbaijani by Shebnem Ashad.
