Abstract

The chapter deals with the symbolic meaning of both real and mythical snakes in the context of religion, magic and burial rites in Egypt of the Late Period. Individual meanings and types of mythical snakes are described with use of texts from the burial chamber of the shaft tomb of Iufaa.
