The chapter uses the method of social network analysis to study the process of polarization of social communication. We examine the discussions of articles on the refugee crisis published from April to September 2015 on the server iDNES.cz.
The aim of the chapter is to demonstrate what new means are offered to social scientists by the fact that a significant part of interpersonal interactions today takes place in an online environment where actors leave structured traces of their actions. At the same time, we show that over time, the discussion of the refugee crisis is growing significantly, acquiring a clearer structure and becoming significantly more polarized.
